Knitting a Meadow Print Women's Cardigan

Knitting a Meadow Print Women's Cardigan

Are you looking for a new knitting project that will keep you cozy and stylish at the same time? A meadow print women's cardigan might be just what you need! This beautiful and feminine pattern is perfect for the spring and summer seasons, and it will add a touch of whimsy to any outfit. With this easy-to-follow guide, you'll be able to knit your own meadow print women's cardigan in no time.

What You'll Need

Before you start knitting, make sure you have all the necessary supplies:

  • 4 skeins of light worsted weight yarn in your chosen color
  • Knitting needles in size US 7 or 4.5mm
  • A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
  • A pair of scissors
  • A meadow print women's cardigan knitting pattern

The Pattern

Begin by casting on 70 stitches using the long-tail cast on method. Then, work in a knit 2, purl 2 rib stitch for 6 rows. Switch to stockinette stitch and continue knitting until the piece measures 18 inches from the cast-on edge.

Next, you'll begin the meadow stitch pattern. The meadow stitch pattern is a simple four-row repeat:

  1. Row 1: *Knit 2, purl 2, repeat from * to end of row
  2. Row 2: *Purl 2, knit 2, repeat from * to end of row
  3. Row 3: *Purl 2, slip 2 stitches knitwise with yarn in front, repeat from * to end of row
  4. Row 4: *Knit 2, pass slipped stitches over, purl 2, repeat from * to end of row
Repeat these four rows until the piece measures 25 inches from the cast-on edge. Then, switch back to stockinette stitch and continue knitting until the piece measures 30 inches from the cast-on edge.

Next, you'll shape the armholes. Bind off the first 5 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows. Then, decrease 1 stitch at each armhole edge every other row until you have 54 stitches remaining.

Continue knitting in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 38 inches from the cast-on edge. Then, switch back to the knit 2, purl 2 rib stitch and work for 6 rows. Bind off all stitches in pattern.

Finishing

Use a tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends, and block your meadow print women's cardigan to your desired dimensions.

A meadow print women's cardigan is a beautiful and versatile addition to any wardrobe, and with this easy-to-follow knitting pattern, you'll be able to create your own in no time. Don't be afraid to experiment with different yarn colors and patterns to make this design truly your own!
