How to knit simple double knitted single ball headband seamless
Knitting your own headband can be a great way to add a personal touch to your winter accessories collection. This headband is not only stylish but also easy to make, even for beginners. In this article, we will guide you through the process of making a simple double knitted single ball headband that is seamless.

Materials Required:

  • 1 ball of bulky weight yarn
  • Knitting needles size 8 mm
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
Instructions:

  1. Cast On Stitches Begin by casting on 14 stitches onto your knitting needle.

  2. Knit Rows in Double Knitting The headband will be made using the double knitting technique. Double knitting means knitting a reversible fabric that has two right sides. To start, hold the yarn in front of the work, slip the first stitch purl-wise, and knit the second stitch. Repeat this process till the end of the row.

Turn the work around and knit the next row, but this time, knit the first stitch and slip the second stitch purl-wise. Repeat this process till the end of the row.

Continue working in double knitting stitch till the headband is 2.5 inches wide.

  1. Shaping the Headband To shape the headband, you will need to decrease stitches on one end and increase stitches on the other. Start by decreasing one stitch at the beginning of each row till you have only one stitch left on the needle. Cut the yarn and weave in the end.
Now, pick up stitches on the other end of the headband. You can use a different yarn or the same yarn to do this. Pick up 14 stitches and start working in double knitting stitch again till the headband is 2.5 inches wide.

  1. Bind Off Stitches Once the headband is complete, bind off the stitches and cut the yarn. Use a tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends.

  2. Seam the Two Ends Together To seam the two ends of the headband together, fold it in half with the wrong sides facing each other. Line up the two edges and use a tapestry needle to seam them together using the mattress stitch. Once you reach the end, weave in any loose ends.

  3. Final Touches Once the headband is seamed together, try it on to make sure it fits comfortably. You can add a decorative element like a bow or a button to the seam to add some flair to your headband.

Knitting your own headband is a great way to keep your ears warm in the winter while adding a personal touch to your accessories collection. By following these simple steps, you can create a double knitted single ball headband that is seamless and stylish. Don't be afraid to experiment with different yarns and colors to create a headband that is uniquely yours!
