    • Row 3: *knit 2, purl 2, slip 2 stitches purlwise, then knit the first stitch again and pass the slipped stitches over, knit 2, purl 2, knit 2; repeat from * to end of row.
    • Row 4: *purl 2, knit 2, purl 2, knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * to end of row.
    • Repeat rows 1-4 until the piece measures 18cm from the cast on edge, ending with a row 4.
  4. Next, divide the stitches for the armholes:
    • Knit the first 19 stitches, bind off the next 16 stitches, then knit the remaining 19 stitches.
    • Working each side separately, continue in pattern until the armhole measures 10cm, ending with a wrong-side row.
    • Bind off all stitches.
  5. Join the yarn at the center back neck and knit across the remaining 38 stitches.
  6. Work in pattern until the back measures 10cm from the beginning of the armhole shaping, ending with a wrong-side row.
  7. Bind off all stitches.
  8. Using the tapestry needle, weave in any loose ends.
